Debian 10th Anniversary Party Seattle

What is it?

Some members of the Seattle's Debian community have planned a low-key get together and party on Saturday August 16th to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the creation of the Debian project. The party is going to be a potluck/barbecue at Alki Beach Park in West Seattle. We've got a couple tables reserved for the day and we're planning on starting things around 1pm.

Everyone is welcome! This include Debian developers, users, the Debian curious, family members, friends, and (even) users of other distributions or operating systems who want to enjoy some food, frisbee, and air with a group of geeks.

How do I get there?

If you know how to get to Alki Beach Park, all you're going to need to do is find tables 13 and 14. A number of us will be wearing Debian swirl t-shirts to be recognizable.

The following maps were provided by Seattle's Department of Parks and Recreation. Click on the images for a larger, more printable version.

Alki is starred and written driving direction are provided on this map.

Our talbes, #13, and #14, are circled.

What should I bring?

Everyone is encouraged to bring enough food or drink to share. Two members have offered to bring small charcoal grills so feel free to bring grillable food. However, since grillspace will be limited, consider non-grillable food as well. If you have questions or would like to bring an additional grill, please email the list at debian-seattle-soc@lists.yukidoke.org right away.

Games, beach toys, a swimsuit, whatever! It's a beach and park. Use your imagination.

If you want to sign GPG or PGP keys, bring picture ID and copies of your fingerprint!

Who can I bring? Who can I tell?

If people want to announce this to the other mailing lists, user groups, or individuals who might be interested, please feel free to pass this around. If you are interested in keeping on top of Debian social meetings in the future, please join the low-traffic Debian Seattle Social email list.

Who should I contact for more info? What if I want to carpool?

For non-urgent issues, like carpooling, contact the Debian Seattle Social list at debian-seattle-soc@lists.yukidoke.org.

Benj. Mako Hill has contact information online. His cellphone is 413.441.6627 (out of state number, sorry) for anything urgent or if people get lost.
